CRKT 2010 Dragon?

I'm kinda interested in getting a CRKT Dragon (black blade, tan G10), looking to see what anyone who has one thinks of it? I really like the blade shape, and think it would be effective as a "fighting" knife. I'm fine with it not being a super steel or anything, because it's not like I would be using it much, if ever, so that's not really a concern to me. I'm also wondering about the sheath, if it's horrible that would be a big turnoff; thinking I'd carry it around 5 o'clock (currently have my Glock appendix, small TDI around 9, and a mag around 2-3). Wouldn't be something I carry all the time, and honestly would be more for fun than anything.

Thanks.

It's a neat little knife, the sheath itself is fine, but the clip it comes with is awful, which is my one complain. Also, word of warning, the Dragon fits my hand fine, but I have small hands...if your hands are on the larger side, I don't think you'd find it very comfortable.

Thanks. Good to hear about the sheath, not great about the clip but that's simple enough to deal with.

I will probably pick one of these up soon, too, considering they've been discontinued. I love wharncliffes, but I've put this one off in favor of others in the past. Now that it's a when-they're-gone-they're-gone situation, I'd suggest picking one up if it appeals to you. Don't sweat the steel. 9Cr18 should be in the AUS-8/440C range, both of which are perfectly fine steels.

Didn't know it was discontinued, will probably order it tonight in that case. I love the Wharncliffe blade also, and think it would be a pretty effective shape for a fighting knife, should penetrate pretty well while not being dual edged.

I have no reservations about the steel, for what it is I really like 8Cr13MoV in my Cryo. Plus, I won't be using this as a utility knife, so all that really matters is that I can put a stupid edge on it and that's all I care about. It's not like the knife will dull during a knife fight. (I'd much prefer not getting in a knife fight, and am really just getting it because I think its cool, but just playing out my reasoning behind it.)

CRKT 2010 is on the way :) Black blade, tan G10 (hopefully, the model number and description is for the black/tan, but the picture is of satin/tan. I put in the comments that I wanted the black blade so hopefully all is good).

I'm also getting really close to pulling the trigger on a ZT, keep going back and forth between a few models. But the bigger reason I haven't is I keep thinking I should really be getting a new Surefire instead (currently have a 6PX and it really isn't suited to being carried in a pocket of khakis or dress pants. I deal with it most days but every now and then I do choose to only carry my little Preon P2, which is a great pen light, but it's not a Surefire); I know that getting a Surefire EB2 now then a ZT a little down the road is the more practical choice, but I really want a bigger knife in my lineup.

Just squeezed the trigger on a black and tan model myself. Should be here by Thurs.

Good deal. I'm ideally had wanted to order a ZT0160, so I'm hoping this will be able to serve a relatively similar role (I'd rather it be 14C28N, but for what type of knife it is I don't think it will really matter).

The Dragon is a neat knife especially for the money.
I got on with the satin blade and black handles and I think they look great.

Haven't done much hard use with it but it sharpens easily and can get real sharp.
As said the clip is bad but the sheath is pretty nice.
Mine had a lot of hot spots on the handle and tang but a couple minutes with a file and sandpaper fixed that quick.

Overall a solid fixed blade that may even be small enough to EDC for some people.

I too love this knife, but the horrible clip is preventing me from carrying it. Does anyone have suggestions of other, better clips that would fit this knife & where to buy? Thanks.

Mine came with a different belt loop system, like the first pic below. Just a plastic square that mount to the sheath with 4 screws. It works just fine. You could make one from a piece of kydex and attach it similarly. Knifekits.com has kydex hardware for sale. I did have to mod my knife to fit my slightly chubby hands. I ground off the little point (green circle) near the rear. Waaaaay more comfy now.
