I'm thinking about purchasing the CRKT 2852 OC3 Knife ...... It looks really well built ...... SK5 blade ...... 54-56 HRC ...... 6.072" (154.23 mm) blade ...... 0.182" (4.62 mm) blade thickness ...... 10.938" overall length ...... Micarta handle ...... 8.3 oz weight ...... A large online retailer has it priced at $78.81 ...... The CRKT website calls it "A true fighting knife" ...... One thing that concerns me, though ...... It is a "true fighting knife" with no finger guard ...... There is absolutely nothing stopping your finger from sliding onto the blade ...... Kind of odd ...... Does anyone own this knife? ...... Any feedback would be helpful ...... Thank you.

There is a shallow divot behind the blade.

Not as big as on a Perrin knife but it'll most likely act as a guard against your fingers sliding forward.

I dont know the knife but you should buy it and tell us about it.
It doesnt look shabby.

What do you want it for - it being a fighting knife and all?
(Nothing against that; I have plenty of bayos and military knives even though I dont intend to get in a knife fight).

Response to BladeScout:
I am building a small knife collection ...... I would like to purchase at least one "fighting knife" ...... I have zero intention of actually getting into a knife fight ...... I would like to own at least one of several different kinds of knives ...... Such as folding ... fixed blade hunter ... tactical ... etc. ...... This looks like a good knife ...... Its a bit more than I would like to spend ...... It caught my attention.

Sounds good.

As for dedicated knives in that vein, I have amongst others FS, SOG Pentagon, Gerber MK I & MKII, EK daggers etc (no pun intended).

I like the symmetric design of the daggers + they are excellent for opening mail.

Look forward to follow the progression of your collection.

Make sure to keep us posted, if you buy the CRKT.

I bought one of these over a year ago and just pulled it out.

But i cannot figure out how to attach the "Utility Gear Clip" to the plastic sheath, the holes on the clip are not far enough apart to align up with the holes on the sheath.

I have spent the last two days searching for a photo of the clip attached to the sheath but i have drawn a blank.

Thanks.

Most Puukko don't have guards, but that didn't stop the Finnish soldiers from using them to dispatch German and Russian soldiers.
rich

HaHa, I found a photo of how the clip fits onto the sheath on the CRKT website, Talk about weird.

EDIT: I tried it and it`s horrible, I will leave it off.

but since you're not using it for fighting, why worry about minutia like that?
there are tons of knives with guards, if you want that, pick almost anything from kabar - like the 1250

Can you not screw it through one of the slots?
