I was just wondering what people thought of this knife. I've been meaning to grab a new knife to carry and wandered across this beauty last night. After a little reading, I decided to pick it up since the price was right. It should be here on Friday. What I'm wondering is, did I make a good choice? I'll primarily be using it for everyday tasks that require the use of a knife, nothing hard on the blade like prying.

Beautiful little knife. Tough steel -- you probably could use it for some prying! LOUSY sheath. Mine is dangerous, it's so hard to get the knife out. I really have to pick up one of Normark's sheaths for it.

pretty well sums up my feelings about it as well. I've only seen one at a gun show and i was very impressed with the knife itself but crkt really dropped the ball on the sheath. if you want a kydex sheath then normark would be hard to beat. later, ahgar

Hey Guys...

Thanks Very Much...

Esav..

Your Sting sheath is just about done...
Had a pile of back orders to clear up...

Here is my answer to the factory sheath...

And as I'am Very fortunate to still own my Vintage 1977 circa Sting, here they are side by side 29 years of separation.

Great answer Normark!

Hey Guys..

qborchert...

As far as I'm concerned it is a Very well executed piece of craftsmanship...

In fact it nearly equals the quality of the original except for a few minor things...

As far as looks go, fit and finish on mine was exceptional.

You'll have to ask the experts about the steel quality,, I won't even attempt to answer any questions like that.

Grinds are even, edge is nicely done and sharp..

The only complaints I'm really seeing or hearing is about the sheath..
It isn't as user friendly as it could be.

If you weren't around for the original run of these in the late 70's, now is your time to pick up a 2006 version of the Sting..

For the price,, it is an Excellent reproduction and interpretation or the original Sting...

One of CRKT's finest knives they've made so far...

Just my opinion though...

Is the sting chisel groud or symmetric at both side? 'Cos I was thinking of buying one but I can't stand chisel grind on blades..

And hi everybody, I'm kinda new around here..

They ARE NOT chisel ground

I got my CRKT sting today. It is a nice stout little blade, and yes the sheath does leave something to be desired.

Received my new sheath from on/scene tactical today for my CRKT Sting it solved my problem with what was shipped from the factory. It not only a super well made product, but it looks great! Price not bad either $32 shipped to my door. Thanks for the great product and this web site directing me to them!

Im VERY pleased with my Sting (I bought 2 actually!) & if you have a lok in "the Toolshed" on this forum youll see pics of my modified sheath. Not nearly as good as "our learned colleaugues" kydex effort but Im still pretty pleased with mine for now.
The blade is surprisingly heavy, and I feel it sits well in the hand. I ALWAYS wanted a Sting 1A since reading the first "Survivalist" novel "Total War" when I was a young lad of 13!

FYI, CRKT are in the process of making a new sheath. I got an email from Rod Bremmer the CEO earlier today.

I dont really like my CRKT sting very much. Its really heavy, especially for such a small knife. And its got terrible balance. It is very stout and tough tho. I just prefer my Gerber Guardian.

i always preffered the mark 1 or the guardian to the sting, even back in the day.

that said the CRKT version is a close copy if ya like one ya should like the other, the sheath is typical CRKT though, in a word crummy lol, used to crack me up the companion came with 2 sheaths, both crappy, vs one good one, what was the logic in that lol?

but all in all not a bad little knife i suppose.
