Hi folks,

I've busying the board with my posts in the thread "CRKT knives - opinions?" I thought I'd start this new thread to pose the question about quality of steel in a more general way. So, is there much improvement with AUS 8 over AUS 6 as used by CRKT? It's supposed to be a little more durable, right?

I don't own any CRKT's. Aus 8 will be better choise if you are going to use the knife. It gets sharper and keeps edge better.
If you are aquiring a knife that is going to be used once a month and the task isn't wery demanding aus 6 may stay in better condition. Aus 6 is more stain resistant than aus 8 and micro rusting eats the edge first.
