After searching the archives, I noticed that the Bear Claw is well liked among forum members. I really like it too - I've never held a knife that fits so naturally in my hand, and feels so instinctive. But I really hate the factory sheath. I don't like that it's made of Zytel - it's a little too soft for me, and I worry about its longevity. My major gripe, though, is with the attachment points. If the knife is carried with the supplied clip or using the belt loops, the knife is carried way too high; a situation that is compounded by the weight of the knife handle (I don't like the knife without the handle slabs; their shape really makes the knife work, so removing them is not an option).
In any case, those 2 carry methods don't work for me. The included clip is meant for a folder, and is designed to come out fairly easily, so it does not hold the sheath very securely. The cutouts for a belt don't really work with a thick belt made of leather or even heavy nylon.
Sooo... Has anybody had a custom sheath made for the Bear Claw? Who made it and how do you like it? I know it may be silly to have a $50 sheath made for a $30 knife, but I really like the knife, and want to carry it. TIA for your suggestions and advice.
