CRKT Bear Claw vs. Becker Necker?

I have a Becker Necker, which I neck-carry while kayaking (and some other things). Primarily, it's for that situation if/when I get hung up on something if the kayak tips over, or whatever.

I just saw pictures of the CRKT Bear Claw, and that seems like a better emergency-situation blade - especially because of the finger hole to better secure the blade in your hand.

Does anyone have both? Or, does anyone have opinions to pass along about either knife (virtues, disadvantages, etc.)?

I have only handled the CRKT, and I think it's pretty decent. You would like it because the blade is very stain-resistant. It is very easy to get a good grip, and fast deployment is no problem. I like the overal shape, but if I had the option, I would want the blade to be just a little bit longer.
All I really know about the necker is that it is carbon steel which won't fair as nicely in the water.

The Becker necker is epoxy coated and if your using it in fresh water, there shouldn't be any problem.

I'm looking for a neck knife for similar use.

I'm expecting a Camillus Arclite in the mail...I never handled one so I'm not sure what to expect.

If it doesn't work out, I'll be replacing it with the Becker.

Not sure if your talking about a touring kayak or a white water boat, but if it's the latter, I don't think I'd want anything hanging around my neck. Most people I see who carry a fixed blade for white water, attach the knife to the life jacket.

I think I'd want serrations for a knife used for this purpose. I don't think the Becker has them. If the Bear Claw does, it would seem perfect for this role.

This is just for touring kayaking - I wouldn't want anything around my neck in white water, either. At the time I got the necker, I hadn't thought about serrations, because almost all my blades are PE. I can see how having serrations could be preferable.

Plus, I really don't need the bottle opener on the necker, because I consume my beverages straight from the can :D

The neck knife also works well when carrying a back pack. The padded waist belts just about eliminate access into your pockets or carrying a sheath on your belt.
