I think at least we can have our representatives look into this for us. Isn't that what they are elected and paid to do? I think it is better to be safe and write than be sorry we didn't later on.

The following is what I sent to my representatives. It may not be the most eloquent message but not too shabby. Please feel free to copy and send to yours if you don't have the time or desire to write your own. Don't forget to take my name off of the end and add your own.
This is just a quick message that I would like to bring to your attention and hopefully you can help right this wrong....
U.S. Customs recently confiscated the majority of the inventory of a knife manufacturer named Columbia River Knife and Tool located in Oregon. It seems that Customs is using a VERY broad interpretation of knife importation laws regarding "switchblade" knives and applying this to Columbia River's liner-lock type of folding knife.
A liner-lock is a type of locking mechanism used in the majority of quality folding knives produced these days. It is NOT an assisted opening type of mechanism (e.g.- switchblade). It just locks the blade open to prevent the sharp blade from accidentally closing on one's fingers.
If this type of folding knife is judged to be illegal to import and, in turn, labeled a switch-blade or gravity knife then every major knife manufacturer will be negatively affected, assuming they can even stay in business.
As a knife collector, this matter is important to me and I would greatly appreciate it if you could look into this matter.
Thank you - David Fallert
