The Chogan is way heavier but it is a seriously heavy duty tomahawk that has better fit and finish than the pipe hawk. I have both and if you plan on modding one the pipe hawk is the way to go.
As for the weight, I view that as more of a personal preference issue (assuming that each tool has enough weight in the head to get the job done). IMO they are 2 different Hawks! The crkt is heavier and splits wood much better and is a beast! The cold steel won't split like the crkt but is lighter and the thinner stock makes it easier to mod! Moding the crkt will just take a bit more elbow grease. If you got the cash grab both. Oh! And yes both throw well the crkt just takes a bit more muscle!
