Have a new CRKT KFF, large professional model. In testing the lock, I found I can torque the handel anti-clockwise and have the flesh of my finger (extruding in the space between the grip panels) unlock the liner (if the LAWKS is not deployed). The liner lock is flush with the handle, so I need to take a little off the liner to reduce the likelyhood of that failure mode.

As a side note to anyone from CRKT, have you thought of spring loading the LAWKS? If that thing deployed automatically, it would really ease my mind.

Anyway, to my point. I don't want to try grinding on the liner while it is in the knife, I'd end up grinding on the aluminum alloy grip panels. Has anyone taken apart this knife? If so, please pass on any pointers or lessons learned.

It looks pretty straightforward to do, just remove the 3 small fasteners at the butt end of the grip, but those pins are threaded into the aluminum grip panel. Threads in aluminum alloy aren't very strong, easy to strip out. The pivot pin looks to be threaded into a mating steel bushing, and the blade stop pin looks to be a press fit.

Thanks in advance
Frank Sauer
