Does anyone own this knife? What are your opinions and observations on its design and function?

I don't know if it's a good knife, but I won't go near it with that Lake and Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS). Some safeties like the one on the Spyderco Centofante I can live with because they lay uninterupting centered in a handle slab.

The one CRKT is using doesn't keep the liner from dissengaging like most safeties. It is a seperate lock in itself. Unnecessary if you ask me.

I think the LAWKS safeties not only get in the way, but interfere with the overall aesthetics of the knife. Hey, I never claimed to purchase knives strictly for function

Doesn't mean that if you disengage the LAWKS that you will fail the knife automatically.. if anythign the LAWKS is just a little extra in the package. The principal lock is stlill the liner.

I own a model #2 Custom KFF and I have held the CRKT version. All I can say is that in a dark room I can't probably tell the difference (wow) unless I feel for the LAWKS. THe KFF is a sweet knife.. many complain it is too big thogh. It fits in your hand like a glove.. and if you are a tactical fan like me you will love it I gurantee it.

With the price tag hell, you can't go wrong.

I am surprised the KFF fanatics club.. MrG, Sing and al havent jumped this post yet.

I was about to ask about this knife, since I can't find any information about it anywhere except on onestopknifeshop.com. Does anyone know if it comes in a left-handed version?

If the LAWKs is anything like the device on the Gerber Covert, I have no problem with it. The extra split second to disengage the safety is well worth the peace of mind. Something I don't have with many linerlocks except a few, one of which is the Crawford KFF.

Sniperboy, I am just being patient. No sense in getting excited until the CRK&T KFF actually hits the retailers. Yeah, for $50 I'll get one, or two.

When I first saw this piece at this price, I had to have it. It looks great and the ergos look superb. However, I've decided that I do not want to go around with anything in my pocket that's named and marketed as a "Folding Fighter". Call it a cave to PC-ness, but think hard about it. My knives are tools - sharp, pointy, fast, but tools nonetheless. Designed, marketed, and carried with intent to use as a tool for general utility. As always, I end with the caveat that I live in NJ, consider the source.

I've never held one of the CRKT Kasper folders, so I can't say. However...

I am the proud owner of a Crawford KFF, all titanium. Whoo-hoo! It's my favorite folder, mostly because of the wonderful handle, which sticks to your hand like how my underwear sticks to my butt on a hot humid day.

The recessed liner lock, IMO, is strong enough without the LAWKS system, on Crawford's models anyway. For the CRKT, hey, why not? I'm buying one to use as a folding trainer anyway...maybe one more for a 'disposable' knife. If lock failure is such a big deal, then my advice to you is...
CARRY A FIXED BLADE. That's what I do.

Ever since I received my Polkowski Scorpion, the KFF and Scorpion have been my constant companions, keeping me company in my miserable life, bringing me joy in an otherwise joyless world...making me dance the Riverdance! WHOOPEE! Look at me, dancing and prancing with my knives, singing and laughing HA HA HA HA HA HA

(Again, we apologize for MrG's crazy outburst. He hasn't slept in three days cause he's been too busy slashing his cutting tree in the basement and drinking pots and pots of Starbucks coffee.)

AMEN, MrG!!! I too recently got my scorpion and I love it

Concerning the LAWKS safety, I seem to remember seeing a picture of a First Production Run of the Gerber Covert somewhere, and it originally had this lever type safety. They then switched it a flat button that completely recesses into the handle when its engaged. That is probably why CRKT is using the little mini "handle" version of it. Perhaps Gerber has a patent on the flat version of it. Look at a picture of a Covert and you'll see what I mean. On my Gerber, you can't even tell its there when its engaged.

Regardless, I have a Point Guard on backorder. Waiting waiting waiting

Greetings All!

Mr.G, its nice to know that certain things- and people- never change

I agree that this new CRKT KFF is great as a disposable blade and to turn into a trainer. My biggest concern is with the steel. I was very excited when I heard that CRKT was coming out with this folder, as I love the KFF's design(but not the Crawford Custom pricetag), until I discovered that they chose AUS-6 for the blade steel. I have my doubts about this steel's performance. I would gladly have paid double or more for better steel.

I will be very interested to read Jonas' cutting and impact resistence results. In fact, when I have some money to throw away- or maybe CRKT would be kind enough to send me one to test, hint, HINT!- I may have to get one myself and put it through my usual battery of tests and see how it does.

Keep Blasting you guys!
