Hi,

My local knife store has the CRKT Drifter, in both G-10 and Stainless, and the Byrd Meadowlark 2 FRN on sale for the same price. I've been looking for a good cheap EDC, so this is right up my alley. I'm liking the aesthetics of the drifter, but I tend to prefer larger knives, not that the Meadowlark is a lot bigger.

Which one should I get?

Can't speak towards the CRKT drifter, but the meadowlark 2 is a solid workhorse of a knife

I think as many would agree, the Drifter is a knife of surprisingly good quality and excellent fit and finish. I've had mine stored away for some time but this thread makes me want to pull it out again. I have the G10 version and would recommend it to anyone. I can't speak about the Byrd which I don't own but since it's a Spyderco, I'd guess it's a nice knife. Maybe get both? ;)

i have several crkt knives love them all. just got the byrd cara cara 2 love it so much i pulled the trigger on a meadow lark 2 this am!

Don't know the byrd, but the drifter is an excellent knife for the price, got one for my sister.
Comes shaving razor sharp out the box

Bladesteel is the same, choose the one you feel most comfortable with, if it's going to be a work knife.

I found hole is easier to operate than stud, less chance of missing the push, so if it's me: Meadowlark.

Try them out since you can ;)

I have a Meadowlark and it is a good, well made knife at an economical price. Might be a tad heavy for some but that is personal preference. I like mine.

I have the Drifter in stainless. If it makes a difference to you, the stainless version is a frame lock as opposed to the G10 version which is a liner lock.

I agree with the others; very nice little EDC knife for the money.

The ss Drifter looks nice but is heavier than the G10, which I find makes a difference when pocket-carrying.

I like the ss Drifter, myself (I had both but gave the G-10 model away to a buddy who took a shining to it.) But the Byrd bi-directional FRN pattern is spectacular. I don't think you could go wrong with either option, OP... good luck! :)
