Any thoughts on the new CRKT Drifter? Looks like a great value for an EDC work knife to me.
Thanks for any input.

I handle one at the IWA a few minutes. I am leftie, that is the only thing about it for me.

A very nice little folder, seems well made, good liner lock, good steel at good hardness (nice lady said AUS 8 at 59HRC).

First choice, if small, G10, more than AUS6 and low price is searched for.

krtenek: Each G10 handle is about 4mm think. The whole knife, including clip, is about 1.5cm.
Thank you for answer.

But...:) could you give me exact thickness of G10 handle without the clip? ;)
It´s really important for me. Thanks.

I got a stainless steel frame lock Drifter for Xmas. Very good lock up and a nice satin finish. Came shaving sharp. Something I didn't think the Chinese new how to do.:D

The best I can read on my ruler is that the G10 scales are 3.5mm each. The liner is recessed inside the G10. The thickness of the entire knife (no clip) is 1cm. Hope this helps ya.

Not a problem. People have helped me so much here - it's nice to be able to help someone else.

I actually started a thread a couple weeks about about that. It's a pretty decent knife.

And here is my youtube review of it.

The knife is a good EDC choice - as long as you're not doing rough tasks. It's also one of the great values on the market right now, in my opinion.

Whats up its me Jay2pointoh. Guess fate is working with us. Like I said on Youtube, its a great edc. Ive been carrying it for about a month now and use it everyday. Slices through boxes like butter, delicate cutting is easy and the G-10 is just "grippy." For the price its a steal and I'm getting two more soon. Definately a must own.

which would you recommend the stainless or the g10 version

I do not own either but your question can be answered by a question to you. Do you prefer the feel of a somewhat slippery stainless handle or a grippy G10 handle.

I would prefer the G10. I hear nothing but good about these folders by the way.

I bought one today. I probably would have gone for the G-10 but only the Stainless was available and it was more comfortable in my hand than stainless handles usually are. One of the biggest selling points for me was that it lools really easy to wash. I'm a SAK guy but I wanted a handy single bladed knife that I can get all messy from food prep and just wash off. I love the idea that I can just spray water right through the handle. I was a little surprised that it came shaving sharp.

I paid about 20 dollars shipped for my SS Drifter and at that price point its an amazing deal for what you are getting. I was initially enthralled by what seemed like such an amazing value at the time and my initial impressions of the knife were great as well. I did however find some minor flaws about the knife that may not even bother some people but it does bother me. First it has a delayed lockup and a rather weak feeling lockup in general. Also it developed some pretty significant blade play after a week or so of normal edc and I've been unable to remove it completely adjusting the pivot and loctiting. Regardless I was still very pleased with the Drifter until I bought a Spyderco Persistence and realized that even in a sub 30 dollar knife I should still expect very good F&F as seen in the Persistence. Zero blade play even after substantial use over a few weeks. Very smooth opening/closing thanks to bronze phospher washers as opposed to the crappy teflon washers in the Drifter that warped terribly no matter what I did. All in all I would recommend the Drifter if you can find it for less than 20 bucks but theres no way I would pay a cent more for it when I have the option of buying the Persistence for less than 30 dollars (about 26 dollars at YCS).

Looks like a decent little knife. For the same money, fwiw, the Kabar Dozier with a slightly larger blade can be had. Would be a tough choice but I'd likely go with the Dozier.
