Does anyone know if the clip on the large CRKT Falcon (which seems to come positioned for tip down carry) can be relocated for tip up carry.
I like the looks of this folder, but have only seen pictures so far; hope to handle one at the OKCA mini show in December. I prefer to carry my folders tip up.
Any one have any field experience with this particular knife? How do you like it and how does it hold up?
As a biologist who spends most of his time in the field and a very active person, I am hard on my folders. My EDC for about 7 yrs now has been a CS Voyager, and it has held up well. I have no complaints, just liked the way the Falcon looks.
Thanks,

It's set up for tip-down carry only. You would have to have someone, or a machine shop drill and tap it at the butt end for tip-up carry. BTW, it's a very nicely made knife. I have the small version. Good luck with it.:)

It would be vey unconvetional to carry a linerlock tip-up. You could cut yourself if it opens in the pocket. Even if it is safely spine-edge against the side of your pocket, it could open and cut up your pocket.

The large falcon I have seems to open fairly easily. I dont know that I would be comfortable w/ it tip up. However, as soon as I find time, I intend to try the drill and tap method and see how it goes. I can always tighten the pivot.

I personally would not convert a liner lock to tip up because many liner's retention is not enough to keep the blade from opening in the pocket.
You can try to keep it to the seam from cutting your hand.

Ok, now I understand why so many people talk about not wanting to carry folders tip up. I have always carried all my folders tip up, but they where all lockbacks of various types, and I have always wondered how they could possibly "fall open". The lock back holds the blade pretty firmly closed. As you all point out, that must not be the case for liner locks, which would make sense. I do also carry my folders firmly against the seam of my pocket.
Now does this knife have the safety (Lake/Walker?) lock on it? Would that help? Elwin mentioned tightening the pivot, would this be a safe solution, but still allow rapid opening, if need be?
Maybe I will just have to get used to packing tip down...
Thanks,

The LAWKS won't help to keep the blade closed.

I tend to keep my pivots somewhat tight, because I don't flick my knives open very much. I just use the thumbstud, and with all the exercise my right hand gets ;) my knives are still openable.

I would not be worried about carrying a linerlock tip-up, since most of mine have both tight pivots and a strong detent. In fact, I'm thinking of drilling and tapping my CRKT Mirage for tip-up carry.
