I am kind of a noob on knife stuff but what is the crkt fossil like. I know that it doesn't have the best steel in the world but what do you guys think if it

I have the larger size, and it's actually a pretty cool knife. I really liked the design and I've had good luck with CRKT's steel in the past ,so I ended up getting one. Mine flips open better than any other knife I own, including my 0801 , which completely surprised me. It's big, heavy, but cool as hell to me. If you like the design go for it. You could get a knife with better steel probably at the price, but that's not why I bought mine.

CRKT has done a good job with their collaborations. All of the Flavio Ikoma collabs are nice including, and especially, the Fossil. I do wish the steel were a better quality, but have found that the 8CR13MoV works well in this application considering the price point. It holds an edge longer than one would expect and is hardened nicely to 58-60 RC. And is easy to keep the edge present and sharp. It is also, as cross1178 mentioned, a fairly heavy knife. This gives the feel of substance, but I prefer a lighter knife for daily use.

Fits the hand nicely and has great looks, IMHO.

Bottom line - despite the minor failings, I really like this knife. Mine is very well built and has no quality issues. It pops open easily and quickly. Not as easily as my 0801s, though it is still impressive.
