Any opinions on this knife? It has a really wacky open/close system, where the whole handle moves. It looks kinda cool, although there is an element of cheese going on there, perhaps?

I kind of shy away from AUS8, although I hear it is a pretty good steel. There are a couple of knives, like this one, with AUS8 that I have resisted buying for that reason. I have the impression for some reason, that similarly priced knives, like my leek, with 14C28N, have newer, better steel. Of course the spyderco's with their VG10's and benchmades with their s30v and D2. But I actually know pretty much jack about steel, so-- grain of salt.

If anyone has any experience with this knife, please share.

AUS8 is a decent steel for <$50 folders. It sharpens easily and holds an edge for a decent amount of time. Not as good as VG10, 154CM, or 14C28N, but appropriate for the price.

This thing may be overpriced then, I think it's more like $100. Interesting design though, I'd love to know if it actually works and is reliable.

I'm not a fan of CRKT to be honest. I had an m16 I got so angry at that I jammed it in a log and kicked the handle. I literally could not put a suitable edge on it, and I get all my other knives SHARP, this would be lucky if it could shave arm hair on a good day, and once it did, it lost its edge quick.

Looks like it is in the low $60's at a few popular online stores, and probably even cheaper on ebay. Looks like a solid knife and CRK&T is famous for doing off the wall locking systems. If for no other reason than it's uniqueness, it may be worth the price I quoted.

Like others, I have no CRK&T's any longer as it seemed like I had lots of problems with them, especially in the locking department. Although I am going to take a chance on the most expensive knife they produce, the Hisshou, which will arrive on the 25th, just in time to carve the turkey for Thanksgiving!:D
