I just received my new Hawk K-AT and I'm very happy with it. The unique sheath is a huge improvement over the other CRKT fixed blade sheaths I've seen. But I have a question about the lanyards. There are actually two, one at the base of the sheath and another that goes around the length of the handle thru a hole in the knife where the blade begins and attaches to a rivet that goes thru the end of the handle. The sheath landyard is attached to the same knid of rivet. It has a large round head which the landyard loops over and holds it in place. The rivets are designed so that the cord can be easily detached. My question is, what is the purpose of these landyards and the system that allows their easy removal? There is not really enough cord to be useful for much of anything but the system is obviously purposely designed to allow easy removal and reattachment of the cord. Any body got a clue? Thanks for any input.

phantom - I am in the same boat as you. Looks like lots of interesting possiblities, but no instructions.

I haven't had any time to fiddle with the thing and won't have any time for it in the forseeable future. Hope someone who has the custom version and has a bit more experience with it can chime in.

The blade length is bit small, even for a necker.

Hey thanks NR. It really is a nice piece and the sheath seems quite secure unlike my F4 which just decided to break free one day when is walking at a liesurely pace. Good thing I wasn't wearing sandals.

Hah. I was carrying a Buck Folding Hunter, just sharpened, and I was standing up closing my knife one-handed and somehow dropped it. It nailed my right foot blade down. It left a 1/4 to 1/2" line hole, fairly deep. I didn't want to tell my mom about it because my Collecting might dissappear fast. Eventually I did tell her though, and I got to keep the knives. It pussed for about 2 months without healing, then I went on some anti-biotics and it healed.

Yowza! It didn't hurt as much as you might think...it felt like what happens when you're cleaning a blade and poke yourself. My friend was a little freaked out at the blood though.
