Hello, I was wondering what would be the best choice for a edc blade. Any other knife Recommendations with similar styles and looks?
All 3 knives look pretty awesome, and I am kinda sold on the design style.

it really all comes down to what your EDC tasks are. for me, its alot of cutting and chopping rope and cardboard, so though i love the look of the kwaiken, especially fully pimped/customized, i would probably not have it in my EDC rotation. out of the 3 i would suggest the Heiho just because it has a thicker blade. keeping in this price range I would carry something like a benchmade 530, crkt 16/21, or even a skyline (if you are daring ;).) or, if youe prefer the length, you could buck up a little more and get a benchmade Osborne < fantastic blade. as for the style, cant help much on other flavors

Don't know about the Boker but I do know about the Heiho, Hissatsu and the Otanashi Noh Ken as well(the 3 are a series). The Heiho is fine for a small AO folder as long as you get a good copy of one. The first copy of the Heiho I got literally flew apart in pieces upon opening the day after I got it. I complained to CRKT and they sent me a hand picked copy from their warehouse, very cool. The Hissatsu is handicapped by one thing and that is that its Autolawks only which about eliminates it for self defense. The Otanashi on the other hand is one of the best knife purchases I have ever made. It is HUGE! Well built in Taiwan it is the highest quality most well thought out CRKT Ive ever handled. It is like having a sword in your pocket.

I don't think the Otanashi Noh Ken would make a good EDC, or at least general use folder, though. And what do you mean that the Autolawks eliminates the Hissatsu for self defense use? Not sure how it works on the Hissatsu, but on the CRKT M16 it adds another step for closing it; it opens like any other, but in order to close it, you need to pull back and hold the Autolawks lever in order to close the linerlock.

damn really? My autolawks M-16s wont open or close unless you pull the autolawks first. I assumed that autolawks works the same across the line maybe Im wrong maybe its just an M-16 thing, I have 6. (running upstairs to grab one and double check). Yes the Otanashi is one big scary well built bastard and will scare the crap out of any non knifers around you upon pulling it out and opening it but...it handles any EDC task with ease...

You are correct! The autolawks is to lock it open and needs to be pulled to close not open. 2 of my 6 autolawks will absoloutely NOT open unless you pull the autolawks so IDK. If that is the case with Hissatsu then Id say go for it, BUT for its size class there are better options in my eyes but hey your milage may vary. Both of my autolawks M-16s that WONT open unless you pull the lawks first are the titanium big dog and the little one...hmmm maybe need to get ahold of CRKT again

I've owned the Hissatsu and the Kwaiken. I would take the Kwaiken any day. IKBS>AO for sure in my opinion. The Kwaiken is a fine knife, especially the "pimped" versions. I would look at the new flipper version of the Kwaiken. Ti is nice and the flipper on the new one beats the flipper mod.

Thats one problem I have when I was looking at the Hissatsu. I looks scary, plus the symbols on the blade. People might freak out if I flicked one open.

The Boker Kwaiken is quite pricey I must say. There would be better options in that kind of price point.

The flipper model is a bit more expensive, what with the Ti and all. If price is a concern, the original model is significantly less money.

Weird, it makes a lot more sense to just have to pull back the lever to close it. Might be a design thing, though.
