Sheath is capable of Left/Right carry as well as IWB/OWB,comes with a standard G-clip

Anyone have this new blade yet ? and what do you think ??

The only thing I dislike about it is the handle looks a little Cheesey, however it feels good, and gives a good purchase on the knife...

Eric....

I actually have 2 of these, 1 for practice/abuse and the other for collection. I had been looking forward to handling the knife for quite a while as I am an admirer of James Williams, the designer of this particular piece.

The 1st version of the Hissatsu sold out before I became interested in knives, and I havn't been able to succesfully find one for sale, so I was quite excited when CRKT decided to make a production version. The original sheath was a bit bulky for me so I had Mr. Humelbaugh of SurvivalSheath make me custom ones (which he did a fantastic job with).

The handle is designed to imitate traditional japanese tanto mountings where the "butt-cap" and "guard-ring" were actually seperate metal fittings and the handle would be wood wrapped with string-ray skin (Samé), and the whole handle would be removable from the blade itself. True, the handle might look a bit cheesy compared to some other knives, but it actually provides a very good grip even when wet.

Oh yeah, the blade itself performs well, especially when it comes to stabbing/thrusting, with a wicked tip like that one would expect it to.

Hey Eric!

On an aside, this is my first post since I got married!

First of all Eric, this is the sheath that the knife should come with! I do have a question/suggestion. James Williams intends for the knife to be carried centre chest on combat gear. Is your sheath capable of centre chest mount? Linked to that is a suggestion that you send Mr. Williams an e-mial to discuss this mounting... A Normark sheath for the Hissattsu, in consultation with James Williams, would be damed cool. www.bugei.com

Originally I had considered mounting the knife the way you described it as suggested by Mr. Williams, and after some discussion at with Mr. Humelbaugh he said it was quite feasable. The reason I opted for a shoulder sheath instead was that I felt Mr. Williams meant for the Hissatsu to be strapped onto the chest while one was wearing a Tactical Vest of some sort; this can easily be done without a custom sheath, depending on the particular vest.
