Hello All

Quick Question about the CRKT Hissatsu, does anyone know if it's a full or partial tang?

I'm thinking about buying the knife, but the handle just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks for looking in :D

Best regards,

I have customized a few CRKT Hissatsu knives by removing the kraton handle and adding black sharkskin, traditional Japanese style wrap and turk's head guard. I cannot post pics here but have sent some to your email address.

I am currently taking orders. Anyone else can email me for the pics.

Bimmer, how do you remove the handle? Do you simply cut it off or can it be removed properly? I ask because I happen to like the handle, but would want to fashion a new blade (possibly D2 or 5160).
Anyway, if the handles you remove are still usable, I wouldn't mine buying them off of you.

I have not found an easy way to remove the kraton/rubberized handle material. It is formed around the tang. I could not cut it off. The only way I have found to remove it is by grinding it down until it is thin enough to cut away from the tang. There is no saving the handle material. Besides, one side is connected to the other via two holes within the tang.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all of the emails I have received concerning my Hissatsu handle customization. Email me if you have any further questions. I am struggling to become a new Japanese style knifemaker. While I am learning to grind properly I am doing a little Japanese style handle work on the side. It's good practice. :)

The original factory Hissatsu sheath can be used. I had to practice until I got the right sized turk's head knot that would fit into the sheath and hopefully keep the knife in place. It works pretty well. I have sold a few of these already. I have also done re-wraps on the Swamp Rat / Wally Hayes Rat Tail and a few other custom knives as well.
