Introducing the CRKT Kasper folders. Two blade sizes - 3" and 4" with AUS-6M stainless blades, double stainless liners, and a steel handle spacer. Features the LAWKS safety situated at the thumb rests. With a bit of practice, the blade can be opened and safety engaged all in one motion. Pricing for the small runs at $54.95 and large at $59.95, if I recall correctly.

I am really looking forward to these. I do wish they had used at least aus-8 though. I would like to see them have a model that uses better materials.

WOW! Once again, CRKT comes out with a winner! Though not my fave steel, AUS-6 will do! It looks like alot of knife for the $

-Redleg out.

Finally they have arrived.

Mr Mattis when will you have these cool knives for me to order?

Thanks for the pic, Mr Ewing. Maybe you could scan the clipside also.

Hmmm... interesting folder that has plenty of potential as a trainer to the original KFF. But the location of that secondary (re: just in case!) locking stud needs to go IMO/ IME. But just from what the lower pic shows, with part of the spine visible, there must be good reason for the secondary locking mechanism; the locking liner is NOT recessed at the finger groove nor is it at least flush with its respective scales. Unintentional unlocking is surely possible. We' ll see...

Axel - there are no plans at the moment to produce lefty versions. CRKT says they are backlogged on orders, which I take it is a good thing for them

Nakano - CRKT just informed me to the fact that they are making a couple small improvements to the Kaspers. 1) the thumb stud for the LAWKS safety will be shortened. The way it is now, it sticks out a wee bit beyone the Zytel scales and can hang up on the pocket seam sometimes if you don't pull the knife out straight. 2) The locking liner as you have pointed out - they are going to make the lock release flush with the edge of the scales. The changes are in the process of being made and should show up on the next run of the Kaspers.

Hope this info helps!

Dex, are their any plans to make one out of better materials. At least aluminum scales and aus-8? CRK&T make a great product for the money. I for one would like to see them also produce knives on par with Benchmade and Spyderco. If they could just take it up one more notch.

Dennis - I too would like to see these with AUS-8 and aluminum scales (drilled out like the custom ti Kaspers). I'd like to mention this to Paul Gillespie next time I talk with him and see what his reaction would be. For now they are just concentrating on the Zytel ones. This could be possible considering the Mirages are available in both aluminum and Zytel. We'll have to patiently wait and see, I guess!

Dexter, thanks for the additional pic and info. Perhaps this is the inappropriate forum but since I' ve never been able to find out from manufacturers to distributors to dealers to consumers I will post again. How will any of the above ever know when they receive a "second" (modified/ improved)batch, in this case the Kaspers, as opposed to an original or "older" batch? I' ve had some recent deliveries from various makes where I received some "older" models and were not up to current specs. My experience is that it can lead to BIG problems somewhere down the line. This question is not necessarily directed to you.

L8r,
Nakano

PS- bet I won' t find anyone with the answers soon.

THe improvements for the second batch sound great. Perhaps, by the third batch, they may go to aluminum scales and AUS8...

Okay, money back in pocket for wait and see.

Have these knives been shipped yet, and if they have, does anybody know who has any?

Thanks,
Tony

Badpenny:

I saw the Kasper at the SHOT show and agree with the comments above. It's a super design that I wish had been made in an upscale version with higher tech materials. I think the design and the designer deserve an upscale treatment.

The Kasper hasn't hit general distribusion yet but I suspect it won't be too long. We received the new Lightfoot Urban Shark this week so I think the Kasper won't be too far behind.

Take care.

I have a few of Pat's custom knives and love the KFF, It would be fun to have the CRKT KFF to abuse guilt free.
