Vincent, AKA "UnknownVT," already wrote a great review on the Eros at the 'Knife Reviews & Testing' board, so I'll just say that I'm extremely impressed with the overall design, flawless fit 'n' finish, and yes, value of this new Ken Onion design. Aside from offering a hand rubbed blade finish, I don't know how the upcoming midtech version is going to beat it.
The ergos are spot-on, the lockup has zero play, the detent securing the closed blade is firm and crisp, and the IKBS flipper performs just like an assisted knife without the added complexity (and spring breakage potential). It's a mere 1/4" thick and weighs-in at a feathery 1.5oz. without the pocket clip. I own a Todd Begg IKBS custom, so this pivot bearing isn't new to me, and IMO, CRKT's implementation is right up there.
This is how a knowledgeable designer exploits titanium's excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Instead of the all-too-common practice of making Ti handle slabs needlessly thick and boxy, here the alloy is intricately contoured and pared down to the bare minimum needed to build a lightweight, structurally sound handle with no superfluous bulk.
Great work, Ken . IMO, these new Taiwanese CRKT imports offer some real competition to such currently fashionable manufacturers as Kershaw, Benchmade and Spyderco.
