Does anyone own this knife and what are your impressions of it? It's currently at the "right" price for me through 1sks so I'm gonna go ahead and order it...but I'd just like to hear some first hand experiences with this knife, whats the scabbard like? the overall construction of the handle? I'm sure its top quality but those that have owned or still own one I'd appreciate some feedback :). Also I was thinking of putting on custom made scales, with the construction it currently is do you think it would be easily enough done?

cheers guys.

I have one. I like it well enough. My only real issue with it has to do with re-sheathing it. I have to be careful otherwise I catch the edge of the blade on the inside of the sheath and it seems to dull the blade a bit when that happens.

It's the fixed blade I carry most often (only have three FBs anyway), lately as an edc along with a couple of SAKs.

Putting new scales on it should be fairly easy. They're screwed on and they come off easily enough. I also plan to put some nice scales on mine eventually.

I love the knife but I hardly ever carry it because of what I consider to be the worst sheath I have ever had the priveledge of trying to use. The knife is great, and a great price, but it needs a better sheath. IMO a $25 knife isn't worth the trouble of buying a custom sheath for. I have been meaning to make a new sheath for it for a while, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

thanks alot for your response, I can see how the resheathing would be an issue of concern...I may just order it, tinker around on it cause I've had CRKT folders and like em so wanted that FB next. I have played around with kydex before, so I may be able to come up with a good new sheath, I'll weigh my options up when my next lot of knife money comes through...most of what i know i'm gettings already spoken for ;).

Thanks again :)

What the crap?? I own, love, and carry this knife all the time! I have never had any problem with the sheath. It holds it in tight, and I have never noticed any wearing of the edge from it. This is actually the knife I carry at the beach or when swimming/diving because it fits so snug in the waistband. You can also invert the clip for tip up carry outside the waist band. It carries very nicely in the boot, also.
But maybe mine is just more awexome then all of yours :p

heh well when it arrives we shall see ;) I'll post some decent pics up when I get it and impressions on the sheath.

I never said the sheath didn't hold the knife. It holds it just fine. I've carried the knife inverted and never had it fall out.
As for the knife catching on the sheath, I am now careful to lay the spine of the blade against the inside of the sheath when resheathing it. I've mentioned it before and IIRC at least one other person said he's had it happen too. I suppose I'd have less trouble if I carried it neck-knife style and had to hold the sheath in my hand to put the knife back in. But I don't, so...

BTW, mine's sooooo much better than yours. ;)
:)

I had sheath issues with mine as well. I wound up trading it off before i could have a good sheath made for it. IMHO if it came with a sheath that wouldn't dull the blade it would be better, however the knife seemed pretty good.

Dull, difficult to sharpen, lousy loose sheath that can not be trusted in my opinion. This knife came dull and the edge angle was much too thick when I got it. I have thinned it out quite a bit and it still seems way too dull for me. I love the balance of the knife and it looks nice, but I would advise against purchasing it. Maybe get the new Benchmade Gamer instead.

As a knife seller I had a number of these in the shop whilst none of them had sheath problems I did notice that there was a wide variation on the grinds ranging from very good to fair. I carried one for a while and found it very useful easy to sharpen and a good cutter although as expected with AUS6 edge holding ability was not great but a couple of strokes on a smooth steel bough it back to life. My partner has it now and she reckons it's the best "apple knife" she ever had besides her Opinel.

Back when I had to send my spydie back in for sheath work, I bought one. Carried it for a little over a month. Fired an email to Kit himself and got a custom sheath on it for a few bucks.

Carried well, held an edge well for the steel in it, was extremely usefull.

Only got rid of it when my spydie 'fly got back, as the 'fly is my neck knife.
