I have wanted a Ruger LCK ever since I saw Nick Shabazz's YouTube review. The knife was sold out most places and I believe discontinued. I had always thought it was priced too high on Ruger's website, after all it is a CRKT. Then they went on sale for $14.99 and $6.00 shipping. I figured for $21 I'd give one a shot. I ordered it August 21st and received it September 3rd. My initial thought was it is okay, but it's still a CRKT... It uses suspect steel and has some lock stick, but the build, lock-up and centering were decent and it came very sharp. For $21 it will make a good knife to put in my pocket when I don't want to carry one of my better knives.

not to sound mean, but i don't think a lot of people here frequently buy knives made with inferior steel and parts --- i have seen that knife at my local sporting good store with some shoddy tape job around the plastic, the employee behind the counter said it was a return, customer complained about lock stick and loose pocket clip and offered to sell it to me for 9 dollars, it was a hard pass for me. every knife has the possibility of becoming a tool needed in a pinch to save your life and i wouldn't trust my life on a 15 dollar knife

Howdy, hoss!

We all appreciate a heads-up when good knife deals come around, and I don't want to dumpster anybody.

But this could kinda sound like deal-spotting.

As for CRKT, I'm an admitted fanboy. But their spotty heat-treat makes it hard to recommend them to others.

Wow, if that isn't the snobbiest thing I've ever read on here...

I think the LCK is one of the best options in the $20-35 dollar range, especially if you want a flipper, and CRKT is a standup company. It may not be the best materials, but I wouldn't call it "suspect" and CRKT stands behind their knives with a great warranty. I had an LCK, but I gifted it to a friend because I tend to use my more expensive knives. He uses and abuses it but it's held up fine. Definitely a good beater knife for the price.

i meant no disrespect of course, i have a couple M-16's and had bad luck with the edge retention, they dulled out real fast and i couldn't put an edge back on, so they sit in a drawer, will probably give them away

Please discuss the knife and not where it was purchased.

I purchased one to throw in the checked baggage. I have four or five low cost folders that won’t make me heartbroken if the baggage handlers steal them. The LCK proved to be a fantastic flipper. I sometimes carry it around the house, and so far I have been very happy with its performance. And since I’m just carrying it around the house, I am not worried about having to depend on it for my life.

I purchased a second one to give to a nephew. He loves it, but then again, it’s his only knife.

It's a Lerch design, I'd be surprised if it wasn't better than most at its price.

Not so sure... I also have knives made using CPM-20CV, S35VN, Elmax, Ti, Carbon Fiber, etc... While I'm certainly not a fan of 8Cr13M0V, I was attracted to the design.

I apologize and won't do that again.

I agree, I think it will be a useful tool and I like most things about it.

That is what I was thinking and I do like it - just wish it didn't have any lock stick and a little better steel is all.

Thanks everyone for the replies!
