Just purchased the M16_13Z today, only $33 at the PX, thinking of going back and picking up the military version as well ($53).... any opinions?

Gatorskull: Funny this should be posted, a friend of mine just recieved a CRKT M-16Z given to him by another friend. I don't have any CRKT products but I was very impressed with the knife. I was very impressed when I saw how little they cost. As far as picking up another....well you can never have too many knives and it looks like they make a great product. Speaking of great knives at a cheap price you should check out the Timberline Kelly Worden design. I just got it about a month ago and it is great(only about $50.00 on-line). I think both companies make great products and it won't strain the check book.

Very nice knife, I have one too. :D Using a Sentry Solutions Tuff Cloth can help keep it looking and working like new. :D

I carried the M16-14 for about 18 mos as my primary EDC/self defense knife. I know that the military models at least include the large tanto-bladed M16 with the aluminim handles. Don't know if they have smaller versions as well.

The big M16 is quite a bunch of knife. I've read reviews when it came out basically suggesting it was as good or better than anything at least twice it's price. That may have changed some, with the advent of the Axis and Rolling lock knives.

The flipper is great! Can really get the knife in business quickly. My handle has tiny marks only where the thumb stud hits the handle, acting as blade stop. Those aren't noticeable. I must have cycled the knife thousands of times. Lock has barely moved, locks up tight every time.

The designer, Kit Carson, really knows what he is doing, IMO. He has another collaborative knife, the Magna by Outdoor Edge. It too is a big folder, that oozes practicality. It doesn't have the flipper tho, and has nothing to act as guard top or bottom, like the M16 does.

DOn't think you could go wrong with the military.

I have the large M16-04. Tanto plain with aluminum handles. I like it very much.

Hi Gatorskull! I've had my M-16 13Z now for about two or three weeks. I actually got it because it was on sale at Eknifeworks for a short time ($22.00) and for an example of a liner lock, which I didn't have.

I'm a Spyderco fan (got six, with one on the way) and my EDC has been a BladeForums SE D2 Sifu with black blade. However, I must say the CRKT M-16 is impressive! The flipper is fun and functional, and the quality seems great. No lock up problems. On the other hand, I find it difficult to deploy from a pocket clipped postion quickly. Also, I am use to tip-up, and tip-down just doesn't suit me.

Since you have it though, find a way to carry it that suits you, and if the clip seems too tight to your fabric, perhaps some slight bending or clipping it to something thick to weaken the clip would help.

I also have a safety tip Bear Claw, and a PECK. Neat knives!
