I recently reviewed the CRKT M-16. This is a tried and true design from Kit Carson that CRKT has produced as a budget option for a long time. But honestly with the influx of Chinese companies making quality knives for around the same price is it worth it?

I had an M16-01S reviewed above but immediately returned it because I just thought it was too small.

However, I've still got a M16-13Z, M16-14Z, M21-04G and a M21-14SFG. The M16-13Z w/its 3.5 blade would make an excellent EDC. However, my preference leans towards the larger 4" versions. The the M21-04G being my favorite which I find just as easy to carry as the M16-13Z, despite the significant size difference between the 2.

I definitely want to try out an M-21. I actually like the size of the M-16 pretty well, they just need to step up the materials. There are a quite a few Chinese companies offering D2 and phosphor bronze washers in the same price range. But otherwise it’s a good little carry knife. Thank you for the comment!

I've owned both, and the m21 is banging. Wonderful size. A word of advice would be to get a no serrated one, and to get the one without the built in "hilt"

I've owned mine for quite a few years, and have regretted the black on black, veff serrated mini sword... it looks plenty scary but it ridiculous to carry in public. I was very jealous when I say my coworker and his normal m21 with titanium grey handle...

The one bonus of the "hilt" is that it is fantastic when used as an emerson wave opener. This hasn't stopped me from wanting to grind it off all the time.

As for the secondary lock. Love it oddly enough. It is fast for me to disengage, and I personally like the slight added security in a liner lock as ive had a few slip.
