CRKT M-18 or M-16 military?

I own the M18 and the M16-03 but it is similar to the Military. Both knives have slightly different uses for me. I use the M16 for backpacking and hiking since it is lighter (with the holes in the handles) and meets all my backpacking needs. The M18 (large model) is heavier but the recurved blade makes it an excellent cutting tool - better than the M16. Also, it has a much smoother opening/ closing and the rubber inserts are a nice touch.

I have also owned both the M16-03Z and M 18. The M-18 is better, smoother opening and the recurve blade is easy to use and very useful. I would go with the M 18

I have both the lg. M-16 and M-18 in pl. edge format.
I heavily favor the M-18 because it has the LAWKS safety device, drop point re-curve blade, colored G-10 inserts which really up the classy factor for this knife almost to the level of gentleman's type folder.
I also like the fact that the aircraft Aluminum slab sides are thick enough to give me a good deal of confidence in the folder's overall strength.
I just like the feel of the M-18 better to boot. It just sits better in my hand.

Actually, if the M-18 had a superior blade steel like D-2, BG-42 or VG-10 it would be my #2 favorite folder period.
My Axis AFCK 806 is #1.:D I say that because it is pretty much carried 85+% of the time now in my front left pocket.

No question about it. It should be the m-18. The recurve and it's smooth opening is the big sell point for me. The new m-16 's have the lawks I beleive.

I have the M18 and M16-13. The 18 with LAWKS and the 16 without. The 18 is bigger and smoother and I like them both but I carry the 16 more, probably because of size and weight. The huge blade of the 18 would probably get some stares if you opened it in public.

I've given a M18 as a gift and have the M16. I think M18 would make a better people friendly knife than the M16 if you're concerned about that. Taking the military version eliminates the steel question.
Personally I don't mind either, but I believe the M18 is a tad heavier than the M16 because of the construction.

M18 is a better knife. Much heavier, better steel and smoother opening.
But the M16 is better looking. I couldn't decide which one to get
so I ended up getting both.
;)
