Just bought CRKT M1 as a BD present for me on Gun show from Oso Grande. Greeat knife! Thick, wide blade with hollow grind. A bit recurve and good big angle point. TiNi coating. Thick heavy "gripy" handle. Thicker then Buck 110.

More I play with it - more I like it. And I must say - looks is greate too. It is beatifull - kind of orca look: big, heavy, dangerous and reliable.

It has best plastic handle - I mean this hexagonal pattern - makes it look like G10, because of reflection.

Also 2 clips and LAWKS lock - I am not impressed by this, but some may.

Thanks, Vassili.

I'm not much into pocket knives, but when I picked up the CRKT M-1 I had to buy it. It's overbuilt, nice and heavy and has all the features of a much more expensive knife. Lock up is solid and the pocket clip is even heavy duty. For the money I don't believe you could find a better folder. It's now part of my EDC.

I have a couple of CRKTs'. I like them very well for what they cost.

But.....do they make ANY autos at all?

It would be hard for CRKT to make autos since they manufacture their knives in Taiwan and autos can't be imported.

Perhaps the USA could annex Taiwan and then CRKT could make autos for their customers who want such folders.

Nozh2002,

When you wrote "two clips", did you mean two pocket clips?

I believe the M1 comes with two clips, one for right-side and one for left-side carry.

Gotta love those fat bellied blades and the flipper. It is my task knife.

Sure - two pocket clips and fore position to place them - left-bottom, left-top, right-bottom, right-top. This is clipiest knife I know. Anyway I take it off - I hate this safe grip killers.

Thanks, Vassili.

Got mine on Saturday and I love it.

The traditional tanto blade is usually not my favorite, but with the added slight recurve and the neat-looking coating it's definitely a winner. Very smooth opening action, grippy handle texture.
The flipper turns into a nicely shaped guard when the knife is open - many flippers just look like a weird add-on, not like a part of the design.
Feels great in both sabre and reverse grip.

I was able to try one of these knives for a few days, thanks to another member on this forum. I really liked it. It was well made, with no blade play and came very sharp. The only problem that the one I tried had was that the edge was taken back about a 1/16th of an inch and on the other side of the blade it was only about 1/32". This made it almost look chisel ground. If I was looking to buy one I am sure I am sure I could find an M1 that didn't have this problem.

That's the only "problem" with mine as well. It has that Busse asymmetrical edge grind where one side is ground to a very different angle than the other. I'm just working it on my crock sticks and eventually I hope they will even themselves out.

Mine is too, just notice it! On one side edge twice bigger then another! I can not say that it makes it chisel - grind is hollow so edge is pretty delicate, so it is not problem for me, and it will go away after few resharpenings.
But now I am wondering - may be it is some special design if everyone have it or kind of manufactoring defect?
And it looks like angle is same from both sides, but edge is not on the center of the blade. Let say - it is improved chisel ;) or well balanced egde between advantages of chisel and normal edges - semichisel! ;)
Thanks, Vassili.

My M1 is not sharpend that way, it is even on both sides with the blades edge in the middle. This is one of CRKT's top three knives,
if not second or third than this is #1.
I made some new scales for mine. They are thinner than the factory ones, which trimmed down the thickness of the knife. And as you know, this is a thick one! The scales are made from Textalite. It has a really neat/nice layered look, with a burnt orange color. It looks really great with dark orangeish/red scales and the black blade and hardware :D Sweet:D

Just got mine today and I'm very happy. Overbuilt is a great word to describe the knife. I noticed the grind also and short on one side and longer on the other must be almost chisel grind but not really. Odd but good edge and a lot of value like usually from CRKT.

I'm considering buying another one for myself to keep in my jacket and maybe I'll get one for my father too.

I have a recently purchased M1 and I love it. It feels solid and it's very smooth. The blade has a great shape and slices like a fiend. I use it in my EDC rotation even though it is the biggest in the bunch.

I also got an M1 for a BD present back in Sept. and it's been my EDC ever since...Gotta love this knife! I also have the same edge bevel situation that most of you seem to have...but it hasn't seemed to affect the cutting at all!

Keyman, I'd be real interested to see your custom scales if you have any pics. Sounds real cool!

Y'all take care and enjoy them M1's!

Folks,

I'm quite interested in this model too. Do any of you M1 owners have a good picture of this model? All the ones I've seen on the various web sites seem quite crappy and low-res...you know.

Thanks for any help you can offer, Jeff/1911

Can you get a scan or a pic of the lock-up? I'd be interested to see how this one's constructed.

Also, how's the edge retention on CRKT's AUS-8?
