Hi all.I'm thinking of picking up a M16-13T.But I'm a little confused about the blade grind on this knife.I've read in past posts that the serrated blades are only sharpened on one side?I know what a chisel grind is,whats the difference between these two?Does it make any practical difference in cutting ability? Also, are the non serrated blades ground the same way. Thanks to anyone who can help.

The blade is ground on both sides. The serrated part is serrated on one side and flat on the other (typical serration) but the plain is normal v grind

i had a small spear point M16 w/the ti handles, combo edge, and it was chisel grind, i am sure of it. isnt that the M16-13t??

a good little knife too, by the way...........

The combo edge M16 models I've seen had chisel ground serrations, and V ground plain edges, but the reverse side (the side where the serrations are flat) wasn't ground as much as the other side. Kinda half-way between chisel and V. I've seen the same on Kershaws (the liner lockers).

I can't speak for specific models though.

yep, thats the way mine was, kinda like the ones emerson calls 'v' grind which to me are not, they are not a conventional 'v' grind though, like a BM 806 or etc.

Thanks for the replies. My next question is in regards to sharpening the plain edge portion of the blade.Do you sharpen on only one side like a chisel grind,or two sides like a V grind? Also, does this type of grind hold a good sharp edge?

Well....then theres my M-16fd given to me by the Pres.of CRKT.The plain edge is ground on both sides like others have said,BUT the serrations are also ground into a "v'.first and only time I have seen that on serrations.

My M16 is a combo blade with chisel grind all the way. I like the knife but I dont like a chisel grind AT ALL. It may be good for alot of things, but making straight slices aint one of'um.
