CRKT M16 totally failed! Part 2 - found the thumb stud!

I gotta give you respect. You could have said nothing and just disappeared. It takes real integrity to go out of ones way to admit they were mistaken and apologize.

No harm done. Everyone here is a big boy. No ones mother was called any nasty names. You're good in my book.

As long as you got your knife fixed that's what matters

CRKT make nice looking knives but I've also had experience with parts coming loose on my M21 and Civet

Gentlemen!
In reference to the previous thread "M16 totally failed!", I have to admit:
I was wrong! I've found the thumb stud, and...
it wasnt broke, just unscrewed itself over time.

So, You were right: loctite.

Sorry for trashtalk, nobody deserved it.
Thank You, for your comments.

And keep an eye on it.
Absolutely ^this. Since the thumb stud is also the blade stop, even with loctite there is a good chance it will loosen up again. I guess it isn't that hard to believe that CRKT would use a non-press fit thumb stud as a blade stop. Just a bad idea.

OP, you should get a better knife that you can rely on more.

Awesome. I'm eyeballing their deadbolts because I'd like to try the lock. Maybe an M16, or Clever Girl, or Butte...

That's an expensive crap shoot just to try a lock. I handled one in store at found it not even close to be worth the cost and risk that is CRKT.

My thoughts are similar, but such things are my fun.
Totally understand. That's why I sought one out to handle in store. So long as you know going in, I hope it floats your boat. As for me, been burned too many times by great looking CRKT designs.

The Clever Girl folder is a great knife, and it has press fit thumbstuds/bladestops, so you won't have to deal with what OP did. It's a big beefy knife with thick stock, but is surprisingly thin behind the edge thanks to a deep hollow grind. I've chopped with mine, stabbed it into wood, and just generally used it hard, and it hasn't had any issues. I also like the look of the new Butte, but I wish it weren't assisted.

Looks like Clever Girl is quite the beaver on hard wood.
