The wait is now over! First ever scans of production models of the CRKT Kit Carson M18 folders.

CRKT has informed me that they are shipping these in small quantities, and that these are off the first shipment. The quality is usual CRKT! Also, due to the big blade, these knives flip out very easy when using the flipper. Easier than the M16, believe it or not. Like buttah! :) The M18 in either size is a beefy folder. Built tough.

I posted specs to another thread about this knife elsewhere in this forum. Here they are again:

Looks like Kit and CRKT got another winner on their hands. Very cool grind. Here is a pic of the plain edge/black insert models.

I prefer the plain edge and the black inserts. Those are a couple of sharp looking knives.

I was hoping that we would see AUS118, but nice just the same.

I like this new CRK&T folder since I have seen the first pics and if one will come in the “reaching area of my hands” I will buy it.

Thank's Dexter! I like the combination of the flipper, recurve and Lawks safety. I can't wait to get one, or two, or... :)
John.

Way cool! Does anyone know what grind type they are? I once had an M-16. I loved everything about it EXCEPT the single-side chisel grind edge. Sorry...I just think that sucks.

As usual, the partially serrated models have their plain edge portion ground on one side only  I have no idea why CRKT does this but it irks me to no end. It's fine if the serrations are ground on one side like they are supposed to be, but when the plain edge portion is like that too, the knife doesn't cut straight at all. Like a car with a bad front end alignment - has a tendency to pull to one side. As to the plain edged versions, the cutting edges are ground on both sides.

Got mine in today :D

They are some of the nicest knives yet from Columbia River.

I think the satin blade finish is a nice touch. I am getting sick of beadblast.

I have been amiss in keeping up to date on these flipper models. Are the thumbstuds also the blade stop as well?

Awww man!

I like that blade style way better than my wee-hawk M16.
:(

The flipper makes these knives 10 times cool (I'm flipping my right now, fun!)
