I have seen some of these advertised as "First Generation" in ATS-34 steel. CRKTs manual says AUS6. Were any made in ATS-34, and if so how can you differentiate one from the other? Talking about bigger, 3.75" blade, plain edge "Taiwan".

I remember seeing models with ATS-34 blades and titanium framelocks. There were the Grey Ghost versions also in AUS-8 with aluminium scales, as well as in AUS-6 and Zytel scales. I could be wrong, but I think the ATS-34 models were marked as such. Granted, the last time I physically saw a CRKT Mirage was probably around 12 years ago or so.

Mine isnt marked, but was represented buy seller as ATS 34,has I believe zytel handles. Kind of hard to tell.

I believe the ones with Zytel cales were AUS-6. Don't ever remember seeing any ATS-34 models with Zytel scales. Should be easy to spot the Zytel ones.

The three of us in this thread are probably the only people talking about this old thing! Something about the design of the mirage caught my attention a year or so ago and I've kept an eye out ever since.

They still aren't commanding "vintage" prices so I'll likely end up with one or two soon. If so I'll report back regarding blade steel type and quality ;)

Thank you. Nobody else seems to grind a blade profile like that, i really like it. I ended up returnong mine ONLY because i didnt want to pay ats34 price for something that wasnt.

I just sold a CRKT Mirage/Grey Ghost about a week ago. *Edit* I intially posted that the blade was marked ATS34; but I have to somewhat recant, as I'm not sure it was - I might have been thinking of the CRKT S-2. Sorry, guys.

That's funny, I just bought one a week or so ago ;)

This one is the Larger Grey Ghost with Aluminium scales. After some digging I found some text from an old magazine article that said the larger Grey Ghost is AUS8 while the smaller Ghost is AUS6. I believe the plastic handle ones are also AUS6. I don't know about this titanium one though.

It is a fantastic knife with an interesting design and very well put together. Along with my Apache, it really shows that CRKT use to make some good knives which means if they wanted to they could put out a high quality product now, again, if they wanted.

It should be ats, I've lost the bid on one in ebay a few times in the last few the. The non serrated s2's aren't showing up on the Bay anymore either!
