For Sale: CRKT Model 4 with STR custom scales, G.E.C. Northfield UN-X-LD #25 Barlow

Both knives SOLD

>> CRKT Model 4 – This may be a bit long winded but I want to lay out the history and condition of this knife as fully as possible. I am the second owner. The original owner removed the opening assist torsion bar and the auto-LAWKS safety. He also redid the edge. Aside from that it was pretty much unused when I purchased it. I had custom handle scales of linen ivory micarta made by STR. The edges of the liners and the backbar were also buffed to a lighter finish when he fit the scales. I kept the assist and safety mechanisms out of the knife because I wanted it totally manual. Later I decided I would satin finish the clip and bolsters. Clip was fine but I wasn’t happy with how the bolsters were looking. I had the clip and bolsters just recently re-blasted to a fine matte, then went over them with a Tuf Cloth so they wouldn’t fingerprint before putting them back on the knife. The finish they have now is slightly darker and has a bit of texture to it compared to factory original.

Okay, with that out of the way, this is a really nice solid folder for sale. Hasn’t seen that much cutting with me, mostly mail and a few small boxes. Blade is 3.5” of AUS8. I’ve maintained the edge on fine Sharpmaker rods and there are some light sharpening marks on the edge to show for it. Still very sharp. The action is very smooth. Blade flicks open fully and easily. Nice detent. Lockup is solid and the blade is centered when closed. The torsion bar, safety switch and spring, original black plastic scales, and box are included.

Price is $80 shipped, at which you’re essentially getting the knife for free after the cost of the handle work.

>> G.E.C. Northfield UN-X-LD #25 Barlow – I like this one a lot but my S&M really dominates the slipjoint carry time. 3” closed. Blades are 1095 steel, 2” main clip point with long pull and a 1.25” pen blade. Smooth red buffalo horn handles, nickel silver bolsters, brass liners. Solid springs (not too hard, maybe a 6/10) and half stops on both blades. Bolster are stamped UN-X-LD on both sides. There’s a small gap between bolster and scale on the front side, and the tail end of the back side scale is not quite right up against the liner. Nothing out of order for this material as far I felt. No checks or cracks in the horn. One part of the corner on the front side bolster has some discoloration, shown in one of the pictures below. I tried a little Flitz on it but didn’t seem to make much difference. Other than that, blades and bolsters have light scratches and swirl marks from carry and use. Blades could use a resharpening to get back to factory fresh. Original tube and wax paper wrapper included.

Price is $45 shipped.

I’d really only take one thing in partial trade right now and that would be an NIB Byrd Cara Cara Rescue with fully serrated edge. Aside from that it’s gotta be straight cash homie.
