CRKT Natural 2

I've liked all my crkts, but they get mixed reviews here. But if you like its style and the price is decent get it, its not likely you are going to skin a deer or baton some wood with a gents folder.

The only thing I can not figure out is why was it so hard to open this knife. I could not use just my thumb to open it and it took two fingers to get it about 1/3rd of the way open then it snapped open. Does it get easier over time?

The Natural 2 is a spring-assisted knife. If you're not familiar with this, it has a spring that holds the blade shut when it's in the closed position, but as you open it, the angling of the spring changes, and it then shoots the knife open. The premise is that it's quick and reliable deployment, but it's generally unnecessary most of the time. Firing it might take a little practice - you have the get the angle right when shoving the thumbstud.

As for CRKT knives in general, they can definitely be very good quality, but are bit hit-or-miss sometimes. I have some that are absolutely flawless, and others that are... less so. I would ask to handle a couple, and pick out the nicest one.

They are a decent knife I had one. If this is the large version I think you may find that it is a bit bulky and heavy for carry in dress pants. Get yourself a Kershaw Knockout. I have one and it is thin and carries easily and fires hard. If you are looking for a lite knife look at a SOG Flash. It is a decent knife for the money and has a deep carry pocket clip so you can barely see it. The knife fires hard and has good steel.

I have had one for a couple years now and I love it. I remember the first day I had it it was difficult to open, but after a little wd40 it was opening nice and smooth. It looks pretty great IMO and is one of crkts better models. Also if you own a belt sheath for folding knives you can remove the pocket clip, which I would recommend. Feels a lot smother in the hand without it.
