I've narrowed it down to these two for a clipless front pocket carry thing to abuse very badly. Any help deciding?

Can't tell you much about the Mini AFCK, (used to own an early version of the large and loved it) but I presently own a mini Navajo.
I love the design, and for a small knife, it feels good in my hand. There is a slight bit of blade wobble, but it locks up nicely. Takes a wicked edge(I have no idea what that steel is that they use) and is relatively easy to resharpen. The edge just doesn't last too long. Nice ambi thumb studs too. SS handles are good for major abuse. Finally, I really like the way the Navajo looks.
I have a feeling that most folks here will recommend the Benchmade though.

My experiences with CRKT have been bad except for the stiff Kiss, we will leave it at that.

As for the AFCK it is fabulous. I work as a mate on a private charter boat out of Shinnecock here on Long Island. I have been doing this 3 years, and "into" knives since 1997. My 812s mini afck has performed well for years, and in a saltwater environment with bad treatment. Maybe every week I would rinse the knife quickly with the freshwater hose, and every month lube the pivot and tuf-cloth the blade. The blade did rust, but nothing that didnt come off with light rubbing of nevr-dull and a soft cloth. Fabulous knives, great price. If you can find one get an 812HSSR with the M2 steel. I have two and would be willing to sell it contact me. Jcarnes@optonline.net

I have had a Navajo and used a mini AFCK. I liked them both. the Navajo is cheaper and you have to watch out for lock problems with CRKT. I have had three CRKT knives with lock problems including the Navajo. I sent it back and CRKT made it all better by sending me a new one which I have just traded. I really did like the handle shape though. It was very comfortable and fit really well in my hand. I had to take the left hand thumbstud off though because it cought on my pocket twice and ripped holes in my jeans. over all it was a good knife though.

If you wanna spend the extra cash I'd say get the Benchmade though. I personally like G-10 handles better and the Mini AFCK has and awesome shaped handle and is very comfortable to my medium to small hands. plus it has the oval hole for opening which I prefer. I just think it's a little bit better knife. both are great though. ya kinda just get what ya pay for in this case.

just for your info CRKT has a knife that is identical to the Navajo but with G10 handles. it's the Contrail.

oh, lordy, spend the extra $$ and get the BM, they are twice the knife compared to CRKT, especially if ya plan to really use it - if possible go to a BM and compare the 2, ya wont have any questions then - as far as buying ANY CRKT vs buying ANY BM imho the BM will be better every single time......look at the knives, ya will be able to see the diff w/no prob i would bet.....
