Hello everyone,
I am looking for a folder a my eye was caught by CRKT Pharaoh and Anubis. I personally like the Pharaoh design more but I am not sure if the blade shape is useful or if it is only a design stuff. I need a knife for everyday use. The Anubis does not look so pretty to me but the blade shape might be more useful. What do you think? Please help.
Thanks very much...

To be brutally honest... I don't really like either design. The anubis seems clumsy, and the pharoah seems useless... But I bet the anubis is really solid. If you're set on CRKT I really like my little m16 13sf... Really smooth action and holds an edge well. The lightfoot and also the new hissatsu folder I'm really wanting to check out.

As far as other companies go - for 100 or less I like the spyderco endura, and the byrd division's SS flight. For a hard use knife, look no further than the manix.

I'm with dangerouscold, the Pharaoh/Anubis just don't seem practical for EDC. If you just want a cool looking folder, just go for either, but for something being used everyday, I'd also go with a CRKT M16 or the Lightfoot M1, which I highly recommend.

have you had the chance to hande either? because if not then i should warn you that they are really heavy and by really heavy i mean like a half pound (7-8oz) they seem to be nice knives and stoutly built but im not in love with aus-8 and for around 60 bucks i would rather get a benchmade griptilian or spyderco endura/delica. These options are more funcitional knives (imo) while the CRKT anubis and pharaoh seem to be more eye catching.

Thank you. I handled the Pharaoh and it suited my hand better than any other knife. I don`t like spyderco designs, I prefer thumbstuds. I also tried the m16 but I do not like liner lock and it is quite a small one, I have large hands. I prefer locks that are placed on the side of the knife just like button lock, arc-lock or axis lock. I also tried Benchmade 10200 and it seems to be a good knife but there is nothing interesting about that one and I would also like to have a knife that I consider good-looking. Another option is SOG Pentagon which is also quite a nice one but the handle looks cheap.
I am not going to work with the knife, I am not manually working. And I have never carried and EDC knife with me either. I am also not going to carry it in my pocket so weight is not the question. A am still thinking about the CRKT stuff for I haven`t seen anything that would catch my eye as well as the Pharaoh or Anubis but thank you for your opinions. After reading some forums etc. I incline more to the Anubis. It has a more classical blade shape so it should be easier to slice bread and spread butter on it than with the Pharaoh. I really like the designs. The Pharao`s blade is really more good looking than useful. Pitty. If it had a better shaped blade, it would be one of the loveliest knives I have ever seen. I hope, I`ll find a shop where I could try Anubis in my hand.

I was in your exact situation not too long ago. I bought a Benchmade.

The CRKT Pharaoh and Anubis are direct copies of Allens customs.
See his site.
So for $50 that what you get!

Strigamort: Well, I like the designs
neeman: wow, the originals cost $500 or more. The factory production pushes the price down a lot. The materials are of course not as superb as the originals use but on the other hand the knives are very well made, although it is zytel and stainless steel. I tried the Anubis today and (same as Pharaoh) it just sticks to my hand better than most of the others. It also looks very nice when closed.

It seems like you're already set on picking up one of those CRKTs so if that's the case, just buy it.

You said you're not going to be using the knife much so just pick the one you like best and don't look back.

again i think they are good knives and of the two id take the pharaoh because i like the design better and i think would be good for the uses you said. my only problem is that it is heavy and i dont love aus-8 but for your uses the steel will be fine and you already said the weight was not an issue so my advice is buy one i think you will be happy to have a nice unique knife

you can find them for like 500-600 i just saw one called the pirate which looks alot like the pharaoh for 600
