Hey all, what kind of lock is on this thing?? I'm thinking about buying one, I like the blade style but hate zytel. I'm trying to make up my mind on new cheapy beater. Is the thing made in china too?? I'd like to buy all of the ones I want but I'm trying to be conservative after buying a Strider, Bud Nealy Custom, and a couple of Spydies in the past two months.

A heavy duty botton lock, have one and love it. I'm a fan of CRKT---great knives, very affordable. I agree, I like the blade as well, also not fond of zytel but works great with this knife. It's a hefty knife and feels when handling. Try one I think you'll like it. Find a dealer, handle it, I think you'll agree.

Some people here resent CRKT for using lesser grades of steel on some of their knives. But their designs are innovative, they work with excellent custom knifmakers, and many CRKT knife owners are very ahppy with the durability of the product. You can still get good steel and strong construction on their higher end models.

Zytel should not be a problem. I think some of the prejudice against it comes from the early days when knife companies appreciated its lightness to use it on very thin scales, emphasizing this characteristic. It is still strong enough and proof against most liquids and abrasions to do the job. If you want a knife to weigh more than it has to, insert lead weights. :)
