Got the CRKT PK this week from Knifeoutlet.com and online pics don't show how stout and heavy the knife is. The PK has a 3 1/4" 420J2 blade is 3/16" thick and 8.5" OAL.

The PK comes with a leather sheath that can accommodate belts up to 2" high and provides minimal retention where the custom uses kydex. The PK has a thumbrest 1.5" long and deep enough for the user to press their palm for driving cuts and choil is 3/4" long and not as deep. The thumbrest and choil
as their deeper than most knives and allows the user to choke up quite a bit.

Out of the box, the PK was sharper than my Boker Subcom  It cut cloth and cardboard pretty easily but needed a good touch up at the end of the day. The blade has a high hollow ground but the point has a thick V grind.

With bare hands, the PK feels good forward grip as the slick rubber handles and the superficial finger grooves screwed up all the other types of grips I tried. With light gloves, reverse grips are tolerable but not secure enough for me. With medium to heavy gloves.PK is comfortable in edge up or down, reverse grip, and the user can choke up fairly securely.

The PK has potential as a beater, perhaps a companion to a Buck 110. It can also be a good project knife for the newbie (a lapel knife, balisong, dagger). The grips are slick and I'm not sure if it's a matter of making the handles bigger, thicker, or having filework on them like traditional pliers. I would like
the blade to be ground a bit thinner. I'm neutral on the sheath as long as it lets the handles protude more and allows the PK to ride higher.

I have seen some very sharp CRK&T knives, one which was in the top of what I have seen.

I think the general design is more of a sharp utility tool than knife, the promotion certainly runs that way :

Do you prefer the grip over a more common knife handle for any tasks?

Cliff, I agree about the utility sharpness and no I don't like the grip more than a common handle.
