CRKT point guard?

While I have no personal experience with it, I've heard nothing but bad things about it on this forum. You might be better off going with another model. CRKTs M16 line is excellent and would be a better choice.

My son bought a large one after I picked up a Crawford Custom Titanium version. He really likes the knife and has had no problems with it whatsoever. I would recommend one if you can find one. I believe they were discontinued a couple years ago. It is a very good design and for the money a good knife.

My old roomate wanted a good folder for installing high end stereo equipment and I bought him one of the smaller models. He absolutely loves it- so much in fact that when he lost the first one he bought another one right away. Then a couple of months later he found it in his ball bag. Now with 2 of them I always have one to sharpen. The last time the whole blade looked like it was totally serrated! Took 2 hours to look like a knife again. He uses it hard and the only problems he has had in the last 4 years is the liner wore down, and a couple of screws loosened. A call to CRKT had a new supply of parts in my hands in a couple of days. I would want one as well but my girlfriend won't let me- she vetoed my buying CRKT so that she can buy them for me and know what knives from that line I do or do not have- rough for me!!

There have been alot of reports of the liner lock disengaging very easily and also of the LAWKS being unusually soft and failing. Just a heads up.

Thanx guys! I ve also heard that this knife is ok but lock can fail in some cases. But this seems to be common with many folders so i will be careful and keep that in mind when i'm using it:)

I have one since 3 years I think...
I don't carry it often because the blade due to it's shape and thickness and steel won't take a good, lasting edge.
The first one I sent back because the liner went right trough to the opposite liner :(
The next one was much better, LAWKS works good for me and never had the lock fail.
Now I only use it as heavy duty work knife.

It's was my first and LAST tactical knife I bought, and the last liner lock as well.

I had a large model and used it for EDC for about five years. The blade was easy to get and keep razor sharp. I used it everyday at work and carried it on weekends....cutting cardbord, tape, plastic bands, rope, apples and all the other usual suspects. The steel typically needed a two minute touch-up every two weeks to stay sharp. The liner lock failed a spine wack test but passed when the LAWKS was engaged. I was not fond of the "disk" opening system positioned on the top of the spine; I found it difficult and slow to engage. I had no problem with rust although the blade would often get damp. Although the blade has a very "pointy" tip, when abused by lightly prying with it I never experienced any damaged. The knife felt fine in the hand and extended cutting was comfortable; it was noticably heavier in the pocket that my previous EDC which I lost and the "Pointguard" replaced....a Spyderco Endura. For $29 I thought it was a heck of a bargain. I sold it "used", along with a NIB S&W HRT Magnesium folder, and the spent the cash on a large Benchmade Cabelas Griptilian in D2 which is my new EDC along with a slipjoint.

got my point guard yesterday. looks nice and its pretty sharp. It is also very easy to open and i think i will soon learn to use LAWKS smoothly. Looks like a good knife for 30euros. Its very light but feels like solidly build. I dont think its nothing to compared with my Spyderco but ok knife alltogether. Btw. I'm thinking about buyig bowie-type knife. Ka bar or benchmade? Any opinions about that?
