Just purchased a CRKT Mirage "warnecliff" off e-Bay ( I know but the seller has a high rating and sells a lot)
Anyway I paid about $17.00 delivered.
This one is the non serrated blade about 3"
The auction said it is made of AUS-6 steel but the seller said it's AUS-8

Anyone know what steel this was made from ??

For $17.00 it'll do until I can get my hands on a better knife like the William Henry Evolution.

Im just going by memory here, but I think it will be aus6.

Dont worry about it though, CRKT does a good job with aus6 and should perform quite well for you. Seems like a pretty good price too.

If you have the Zytel version, it's definately AUS-6. I think the aluminium handled "Grey Ghost" series were also AUS-6. If you have any older Blade or TK magazines, you might want to check the CRKT ads for the specs. I checked CRKT's website, but the only info on the Mirage is for their Titanium handled version.

CRKT AUS 6 is not bad stuff - I've carried a KISS for a few years now in that steel and it's held an edge well and has taken lots of abuse -and at $17.00 - I guess I should not tell you that Smoky Mountain Knife was selling that model as closeout for $9.99 ! oops - I guess I just did! sorry about that- still a good price for a decent knife - enjoy it !

The Gray Ghost variation of the Mirage had AUS8 blade steel. I've seen a few floating around that had the Zytel handle and the Gray Ghost (AUS8) blade.

I bought the exact same knife off E-Bay also, it's a great one, I think you will be pleased. I will warn you though, I have had problems with CRKT blades "spot" rusting when carried inside the waistband.

Oil well.
