I bought CRKT Ramadi just this week as I was on a hunt for EDC fixed blade that can do everyday tasks, good for self-defence and some bushcraft.

I don't know if this is the best knife for all o this but it's the one I picked as I liked the design of the knife.

The knife came incredibly dull. Could not cut paper, hard to cut rope and horrible and doing feather sticks. But the geometry of the knife is really good. Feels nice and tight in the hand and the sheath holds the knife in locked position with no rattle with easy draw. The handle is nice and grippy but the scales screws stick out quite bit.

I bought this knife to also experiment on it. Do little customisation. I started with stripping the horrible black coating (even it's not perfect yet, still need little more work to get the coating off) it's looking better now.

I will get all the coating off clean it properly and give it nice patina. Then I will put new finer edge on it. It will stay like this for sometime.

I will also in the fire make custom micarta scales with sculpted rock pattern and kydex sheath. I'll post some pictures on the progress.

The link 👆is finished blade. I think it turned out pretty awesome. I have flushed the screws with 8mm drill.
Next will be the wrap on the sheath.

Looks great! I posted a screenshot for you for those who don't chase links.
Thank you. Hopefully I'll get some paid BladeForum in future as well. Still need to find a way to etch perfectly either CRKT logo or my own.
I quite enjoy the process of making the custom Ramadi. I might try to make a knife from scratch in future.

Many of the knife makers on Blade Forums got their start by modifying knives, so keep at it!
