Are the loose bearings in grease? I would like to clean it with WD40, then blow it out with compressed air then put KPL in it. This seems like a bad idea for greased bearings.

i exchanged mine for ceramic ball bearings. no more fear of water, dirt, grease, rust, dust. quick rinse with water than blowing with compressed air

Those bearing will do just fine with oil. Its not like a wheel bearing with thousands of rpm against it. Any good quality oil like Go-juice with be more than adequate for them. And cleaning with WD40 and lots of air will get them plenty clean.

I think I'll use White Lithium grease which was recommended for Kershaw's Speedsafe torsion bars. Comments?

That grease is fine for the torsion bar then I would use a good oil for bearings, like Go Juice as mentioned by sickPuppy1 above.
