I've been seriously considering this guy. Anyone have one or have any thoughts on it?

I purchased the larger sized black colored version which turned out to be first production as pictured.

The deployment of blade is silky smooth flipper only, I like the blade shape and look of overall piece. It is well balanced and feels good in hand.

Framelock is smooth and locks well. Blade has decent shparness out of box and took a razor edge easily.

For a Chinese steel and production a first class looking blade with unique eye catching unique look!

as he says, it comes in 2 sizes and colors, i'm also seriously considering this knife, but i'm looking at larger and black version, blue doesn't seem as cool to me =[ black just seems more serious and capable (yes, i know that color has nothing to do with performence =] lol)

could everyone suggest a few knives around the same price point as the ripple? i don't want to buy it, then find out there is something much better

thanks to rsquirrel for his suggestion (a couple comments down)

I just bought the black version and was impressed with the quality of the knife.Silky smooth action with the IKBS system. Hats off to CRKT for bringing that to production. You wont find another production knife with the same features.

It's a smooth gentlemen knife, and I think it won't handle heavy use well: the framelock on mine (and a number of others) nearly completely covers the blade, allowing for little wear.

If you're looking for a classy Gentleman's folder, the ripple's an excellent choice. If you're looking for something that will work like an Ox, but around the same price point, I'd suggest Spyderco Delica. Not nearly as pretty, but should stay sharper, longer. Made in Japan doesn't hurt either.

handle it first, if you can. the blade comes out with a nudge and is silver-smooth and silent, but the scales are very thin, as is the overall thickness of the knife. i played around with one and thought it felt too thin and sharp-edged to be comfortable.

I handled one at a gun show. The IKBIS system really works, the pivot feels almost frictionless. But for some reason I found the flipper kind of hard to use, like it had a really strong detent and I couldn't get any leverage. that might be just the one I handled though. Also, the handle had some sharp edges.

I expected to really like it, but it just didn't do it for me. It's still a nice knife though.

I have the smaller Ripple 2 and at first I thought the same thing. It seemed really hard to flip. But then I tried it in my left hand for some reason and it was super easy. Huh? After a bit of fooling with it I realized that when holding it in my right hand I was squeezing the frame lock enough to make it really hard to flip. A change of grip cured the problem completely.

I have to agree with hawk here. After handling both a large and and small Ripple, I found the design to be attractive and pivot action to be very smooth; however, there was something of a lack of "substance" in the handle and the sharp edges around the grip that turned me off. Not a bad knife at all, but I wasn't pushed over the edge to buy one on the spot.

I just sold the one I had, although I liked the look of the knife I just didn't like the way it felt in my hand. It was a smooth opening knife with the IKBS and mine did come very sharp out of the box. The one thing that really bothered me about the knife was the pocket clip, and just didn't like the way it felt in my hand.
