Howdy,

Ok, so I am a new member and have already committed one of the cardinal sins, I purchased a CRKT Ryan model 7 Black 6813K.

I have discovered the error of my ways though....and a ZT 0200 is already on the way :)

I guess from reading all the posts I could find on both knives that the CRKT Ryan is just barely this side of a "trash" knife but at $40 that's not too expensive a lesson learned. My question is though... I see this knife advertised all over the place listing the Blade as AUS6 or 420J2 ? does anyone know how to determine what it really is?....seems like AUS6 is considerably better than 420J2? or does it not really matter at this price range?

Just really curious at this point.....

I CAN NOT WAIT for my ZT 0200 to get here at $129.00 it looks like a really FINE knife for that price, and with lots of good things said about it here.

Wish I could afford an XM-18! that looks like a great knife!
Have to start saving....and stop buying flashlights....:D

I would think you could try to find out when the knife was made and pinpoint what steel was being used on that date? That is why you will like the ZT! They date the blades and put what steel was used. You will like it, I have one and it has never failed!:)

It looks as though it has a Scandi profile, and knives of this type tend to take an edge pretty easily. I wouldn't sweat the steel much.

The CRKT can be useful for practicing your sharpening skills, (if you're not already an expert ;)).

yeah i have a zt0200 and love the thing it feels beefy in the hand but wears small and is definitly th emoost durable and best knife that i own, if ur intrested in fixed blades zt makes a couple very nice one but for teh steel i dont know sounds like a scam because they advertise the knife at a steel and might use another to same money

this does not even have anything to do with the question:confused:
