Well, I finally found out why I love my axis locks so much......
Last night I dug out my old s-2 framelock and decided to start carrying it after almost a year. Anyways I had it totally finished sharpening when I thought I would give it one last little test to make sure the lock was solid (I should have done this when it was dull...doh!)I never really had any slips before with this knife before but then again, I never really used it a whole lot, maybe I just held it a certain way or something but this time it seemed pretty easy to disengage.
All i did was pinch the back of the blade with my left index and thumb and held the handle with my right and gave it what I thought would be an innocent little test. At first i gave it a quick but firm bump which it passed, so I put some steady pressure on it & the dam thing slipped off the lockbar and I got a nasty poke/cut in the index finger of my left hand.
After I stopped bleeding 10 minutes later and wrapped my finger with a bandaid, I dug my other s-2 out to give it a test(this time with thick leather gloves on) it passed, but Im now thinking of getting rid of it as I simply don't trust them anymore. Im sticking to my trusty neck knives, Spyderco lockbacks and BM axis locks from here on.
Anyone want to buy one slightly used s-2 with blood on it?:grumpy:

Since they aren't making them anymore, you might get a credit if you send it back, something to consider.

I may, but I think im going to go ahead and keep the solid locking one and just keep this experience in mind. I will keep the slipping one and someday use it as a sort of trojan horse gift to any would-be future enemies. :D

I've got two of these little S2 models, and they both lock up like a bank vault(similar to a Sebenza). Might be the most knife out there for how little they cost.

My one has been pretty good. I haven't had any lock-up probs with mine.

Just can't stand that clip so it never sees any carry time.

Just a quick follow-up to my post, after taking the knife down I realized their was a light coat of lube that had gotten onto the lockbar. After some backtracking, I realized my error(or at least the biggest weak point of my framelocking S-2)I had lubed the pin before putting the knife in my drawer months earlier and it had seeped down onto the lockbar. In fairness to CRKT, I thought I should bring this one back up.
My S-2's have been assigned to light duty, and dress use.:(

Sticky,
I would like only to convince myself if I have understood you well.
You are testing the locking device – this means you are not sure of its reliability, isn’t it?
But if you are not sure – please could you explain me why you are holding your fingers on the blade’s path?
No accusation, it is your finger at least. However one of this Forum duties is to promote and disseminate proper and safe way to use knives, so I would be grateful for explanation.

It got the finger I was holding the back side of the blade with. I was holding the handle side with my finger tips in such a way that they were clear of the blade path.
I suppose I was lax thinking back at how solidly this little thing locked up when I got it, It wasn't so much of a test as a quick verification of what I experienced before. I just put a little amount of pressure thinking even if it would slip it wouldn't get my right hand, well I was right, it got my left one!

On a side note, It is a great way to test the sharpness of my knives, that little bugger cut like butta! J/K
