The S2 recently caught my eye in the "best crkt" thread- I'm now on the lookout for a Ti framelock with thumb stud. Ideally, I'd prefer something in the $100 range, but I'm still interested in the other options. I'm not even going to mention the sebbie, it & the alias are both significantly more than I'd like to spend.
Anyone have some suggestions?

I did find this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522960
but I hoped to keep this thread focused at a little lower $$ point.

I was gong to suggest a Benchmade Mini Skirmish. I paid $125 for mine about a year and a half ago, but I've seen the price is now closer to $150.

So I did a quick search on Ebay and found a vendor selling the S2 for $60.00. Since linking to live auctions is really not permitted, you're going to have to find it yourself, but I searched "CRKT S 2".

Also these have been discontinued for awhile..... good luck and if I can think of any other Ti framelocks, I'll post again.

Cool, thanks.. I'll go browse ebay.

Skirmish doesn't work for me because I'd prefer a stud to hole for opening.

Seems the plain edge (my preference) is even harder to find than the combo- Just found some combo ones for sale from a retailer as well as on ebay.

I don't know the S2 is pretty hard to beat. Seen one on ebay for 50 bucks with the partially serrated edge. I also like the CRKT Apache liner lock. I have all of the above mentioned knives and like the Apache a bit more just due to handle size. But the caveat being it is a liner lock and not a frame lock. To me these are the BEST that CRKT has ever done bar none. Excellant build quality with very good steel(sts34). As for other frame locks Kershaw has a some lower end knives that were frame locks. Lower end in blade steel only though. The build quality was excellant. keepem sharp

PS don't forget that new little folder that I believe is a frame lock from KaBar, the Finn I think it is called. That looks pretty cool.

FOUND ONE! [edit] CRKT S-2
And ordered it.
Upon receipt and positive experience with the site, I'll post a link.
$65 for the larger plain edge version, shipped.

I think this will be replacing the m16-13z and "my tighe" with my own wood scales as my usual edc knife.

If you can find one, the long-discontinued Benchmade 750 Pinnacle was a very close facsimile of the Sebenza. Titanium framelock with an ATS34 blade and a thumb stud. I love mine!

Came a bit stiff, but SHARP and this thing is light!
Very solid blade lockup.
Looks like I've got a new EDC for a bit, though it doesn't flick out like the My Tighe shown in the background (no assisted opening & a lighter weight blade)

Nice. I got one like that a few weeks ago, but it had to go back because it had a dent in the blade. I'd be happy to find a good deal on another one someday though. I did read a few comments about the blade being a bit on the soft side, so don't be too rough with it.

Here's a couple pics showing the dent on the one I sent back:

I really wish CRKT would make the S2 again, or another company would make an affordable titanium frame lock.

Are there not issues with the blade lock-up on the S-2 and S-1 due to the angle of the tang to lock interface?

Could that steel be ATS34? Never heard of sts34...

I could swear I saw a decent off-shore $100ish Ti framelock in, maybe 440A?, the other day browsing for something else. When the hops and barely wear off I might remember.

Keep looking, they are out there.
