Has any one checked out the new CRKT Side Hog. What do you think. Any nifty ideas for practical use/cary ?

If thats the one I think it is, it is a POS, featuring 420j2 stainless. :barf: Any coolness factor of the design is swept away by the sheer crappiness of the materials.

I think it would a be a good knife around the back yard, like cutting string and stuff. Sure the steel is crappy, but it is durable and it is easy to re-sharpen.

The Side Hawg looks to me to be a cool design; I bet it would be handy. I’ve seen it online for as little as $17 so even though it’s not made of S30V it seems worth the money.

Come on, it's inexpensive, what do you want? 420J2 is still a useable steel

Gosh, I'd better stock up on United Cutlery Bowies! :D 420J2 is useable, just not as a cutting edge- It would be fine for liners or to laminate a decent steel core. For $17-20 you can get a quality Byrd folder with a decent steel, Why waste money on junk? For half the price you can get quality Moras or opinels.

Exactly. I can't even see the use of a small chisel ground cheapie like that. Get a Victorinox Classic and put it on your keychain. Twice the knife and better-looking.

After reading theses posts, I will never admit on these boards that I bought one 2 weeks ago! :D

If your still interested there was a write up on it in this months Blade Magazine. I haven't read that article yet so I'm sorry I can't be of anymore help.
