Been watching this forum for awhile now, first post/question though.

While certainly not new to knives in general, I have found myself become more .... appreciative ... of a decent quality blade.

I currently carry a Kershaw 1014 as my primary hunting knife but am not quite happy with the "feel" of it and am considering this as my replacement.

Any experience with this blade in particular ?

Thanks !:)

I think it would be a tossup as to whether this would be an improvement over what you have.
1.4116 is extremely similar to 420HC. I like Buck 420HC because they tweek the heat treat to make it way hard. Anyone else's 420HC tends to be a bit anemic. The Kershaw is apparently in AUS6, but Kershaw does a pretty good heat treat on their stuff. Going from a well heat treated AUS6 blade to a non-Buck 420HC is not much of an upgrade in edge retention IMO.

On the plus side, Kommer is a great designer and I am sure that the ergos on that Kilbuck hunter are great. But at $60, I think you could do better. I think I might be looking at the Benchade Rant or one of Buck's offerings if I were looking to spend in that price range.

My 2 cents.

The CRKT Kommer signature was one of the first knives I bought for my collection - must say I was disappointed. The design and polish is good and it's a pretty enough knife. Main letdown is quality of the steel - (box says "Made in China"). I wasn't intending to use it but when I saw the wire edge left after the factory grind I had to do something about it - that's when I found edge retention to be poor - by my standards anyway

Handle a tad small for my hands but ergonomics OK - blade shape reasonable for a GP. The fact that it's full tang is irrelevant because of the steel quality - I certainly wouldn't use it for battening or prying.

I think you could do a lot better for the money and a Mora or Martiini comes to mind.

The Kilbuck has a nice fit and finish and is a good looking knife but the steel is subpar for the price. I would suggest taking a look at the Spyderco Moran with VG-10 steel. The steel on the Spyderco is far superior to the Kilbuck and only $10 bucks more.
