Is CRKT's Slide Sharp any good? I have heard the Spyderco system is and would like to know how they compare?

Please do not waste your money on the slide sharp
And if someone wants to give you one, please do not waste your storage space.

It just did not work!

I have never used one but just from looking at the photos I have a pretty good idea how it works and it's not a sharpening system I would be interested in.

It's gimmicky. Not saying it's bad or anything, plenty of set up's are gimmicky. Lansky anyone? ;)

I personally haven't tried it and would not be interested in one. The Spyderco Sharpmaker is a much more versatile system with numerous uses that far surpass the Slide Sharp.

The Slide Sharp rests your blade in a groove in the guide. Your blade moves forward and back in the groove as you make the circular sharpening motion. There is friction between your blade and the guide. This can leave marks on the sides of your blade that you won't get on a Sharpmaker. Get the Spyderco.
