a friend gave me one a while back. I love my sharpmaker, so it doesn't get used too often, but I've played around with it a bit, and it works ok. Doesn't seem to get those hair popping edges very well, but it's good to have in the kitchen for putting quick edges on my food prep knives. If you're only going to have ONE sharpener, I wouldn't really suggest this one, but it's not the worst either.
