Just curious what the group thinks of these knives in comparision to one another. I believe both the CRKT special forces (Large blade) and the M16-14(T) use the same exact blade and the only difference is that the special forces is teflon coated. The special forces is available for $40 vs. about $100 for the titanium so maybe I just answered my own question. I guess I'm curious and would like to own the titanium model just because I don't have one. Obviously it should be noticeably lighter than a non titanium model. I'm not sure I like the flipper on both sides on the Special Forces model.

Also, why is it possible to get the USA made version of the CRKT Special forces, the M16-14SFA cheaper than the non US version, the M16-14SF?? It seems like it should be the other way around.

i have had a couple of the CRKT M16 ti models, and one of the aluminum handle ones, IIRC the ti has better steel in the blade (aus6 vs aus8 IIRC) and of course the ti vs aluminum handles, the ti version seem to have better F&F than the alum handle ones, they both have the flippers, of the 2 i very much preffered the ti model myself, they are kida pricey though for CRKT stuff, as far as the prices on the US vs the non US models dont have a clue, demand probably has something to do with it ..........

1. you dont want the american made special forces version, its cheaper because it is cheaper built, cheaper blade steel/construction, i heald the two next to one another and you can definatley tell the difference.

2. the m16-14sf has the same blade as the titanium version, at least it used to. it also has that extra flipper which is meant to form a hilt, but it has way more function as an emerson wave imitation, just flip the pocket clip to the other side and it is waved, so to speak.

3. the titanium scales tend to have alot more noticable scratches than the aluminum version, this will definatley make a difference when your paying almost twice as much for it. the more you pay for it, the less your gonna want to put a scratch on it.

so, since the blade type is the same (assuming you can get your hands on a aus8 model) the added function of the wave, the less scratchable/less costly aluminum scales, and the way lower price, id say go with the m16-14sf any day.

Remember, CRKT does not recommend that you use it in the tip up confiuration. Weak detents, i suppose, or just liability
